Technological characteristics of the robotic platform may play a role in decreasing challenges minimally invasive left colectomy for benign or malignant diseases. The literature regarding is scarce and focuses mainly on approach complicated diverticular disease, showing good clinical results. Robotic performed with three instruments (a monopolar hook scissor; bipolar forceps Cadiere forceps) one two assistant. dissection mesocolon from medial to lateral splenic flexure always fully mobilized. Left colectomy with intracoporeal anastomosis: technical aspects

Oncologic laparoscopic colectomy represents a fully validated surgical approach to the management of colorectal cancer. However, laparoscopic surgery for distal transverse and descending colon lesions remains a challenging procedure. A total laparoscopic approach to the left colectomy is an interesting option for critically ill patients although reports in the literature on this subject are sca...

Advantages of Robotic Right Colectomy With Intracorporeal Anastomosis

Through retrospective review of consecutive charts, we compare the short-term and long-term clinical outcomes after robotic-assisted right colectomy with intracorporeal anastomosis (RIA) (n=89) and laparoscopic right colectomy with extracorporeal anastomosis (LEA) (n=135). Cohorts were similar in demographic characteristics, comorbidities, pathology, and perioperative outcomes (conversion, days...

Robotic versus laparoscopic right colectomy: a meta-analysis

BACKGROUND The objective of this meta-analysis was to compare the clinical safety and efficacy of robotic right colectomy (RRC) with conventional laparoscopic right colectomy (LRC). METHODS A literature search was performed for comparative studies reporting perioperative outcomes of RRC and LRC. The methodological quality of the selected studies was assessed. Depending on statistical heteroge...

Robotic-Assisted Versus Laparoscopic Colectomy: Cost and Clinical Outcomes

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Laparoscopic colectomies, with and without robotic assistance, are performed to treat both benign and malignant colonic disease. This study compared clinical and economic outcomes for laparoscopic colectomy procedures with and without robotic assistance. METHODS Patients aged ≥18 years having primary inpatient laparoscopic colectomy procedures (cecectomy, right hemic...
